⑦ The Biggest Port Town in Lofoten "Svolvær"

When I headed for Svolvær being welcomed by the beauty of Kabelvåg,
I saw "Svolvær Cathedral" on the way. It went so well with the sunlight
in the evening. The cathedrals in Scandinavia are really NICE!!!!!!!!!

When I got to the hotel, It was already dark. I stayed there for 2 nights.
Oh!! An outside light pole was tilted!! Something might have driven into it......

Actually it was only at four-thirty even though it was really dark...
so I just went for a walk to the town ceter until the dinner time.
But most of the town was closed because of the weekend so I could just take some pictures.

A port was near the hotel. There was no mountains nearby so it seemed as if it was the port
in the big city. A little further down, there is "Hurtigraten ASA" terminal which accomodates
one of the famous cruise ships in the world for the tours along the west coast of Norway.

The main street!! Very Good!! Any scandinavian sceneries are all picture-perfect!!

The northern mountain scenery which I viewed from the port
Yes!! Not only the harbor but mountains are THE MUST for the picture of Lofoten.
I heard the place called "Svolvær-geita," which is a symbol of the town
and famous for rock climbing, is somewhere on top of the mountains.

I saw something triangular on the opposite shore in East.
Later I heard they were the drying stations for codfish. The cod fishery is
the main industry in Lofoten so I can see them everywhere during this trip.

I went back to the hotel for dinner. Salmon and potatos were really GOOD!!
But to my disappointment, there weren't any rice or bread... Later I heard
the potatos which came with the main dish were the main carb for the locals.
I do love potatos but it was much too small for my stomatch......Hmmm......

After dinner, I went onto a bridge for Aurora/Northern Lights about 10 minutes walk
from the hotel. But the sky got worse suddenly... and began to got covered by the cloud.
there were just a little patches of starry sky so it was no condition to see Aurora/Northern Lights at all...

I waited for the weather to improve until 10 p.m. but it wasn't looking good...
so I just took picures of the night view and went back to the hotel. The night view
of Svolvær was great even though I couldn't see any Aurora/Northern Lights.

Good Night!!
