From the road along the coast, I could see beautiful red glow of Lofoten
which seemed as if the sky was burning, on the way. INCREDIBLE!!
But!! The weather got worse and worse and it took a sudden change with a rain storm
2 hours after I left. I remembered, last night, the weather forcast said,
"The weather
of Lofoten would be unstable and the max temperature of 8 ℃, minimum of
1 ℃." |
The latitude of Lofoten is about 70 degrees north.
"Why is the high latitude region like Lofoten as warm as Osaka, Japan,
in the middle of winter,
in addition to the rain!?!?!?" I was so surprised by the unexpected warm temperature.
|
He said, "The climate of Western Norway is warm for high latitude
becase of a big warm current
from Atlantic "Gulf Stream," which comes from South Atlantic
so it's really rare to get
-10 ℃ or lower even in severe winter." Oh... Hokkaido, Japan, is colder
than Lofoten!! |
On the way, he stopped 2 places for me to see the nice views and take pictures.
But they were
spoiled by the rainstorm which didn't let me take much pictures even though
I was using
my umbrella..... Just 2 pictures below are the works which I could take
with all my might then.
At this time, the violent wind broke my umbrella into pieces snapping its
frame in seconds!! |
