A Capital of Finland "Helsinki"

Early that morning, a snowplow woke me up. We had sever snow storm at that time.....
But the weather started to improve during the breakfast so I went out around the city. Happy!!

● Sibelius Park
It was built to remember the well-known Finland's composer "Jean Sibelius."
There is a bronze statue of him and a monument of pipes for instrument,
which is a shape of a tree in the park. It says that we can hear
the voice of Finland when our ears get closer to the monument. So Funny!!

● Temppeliaukio Church
I
t was made out of the hollowed out rock. Since it's in the rock, it gives
a great natural sound effect there, so many classic music events are
often held there. On that day, an orchestra group was getting ready
here and it was an amazing mood with many kinds of instrument.

While I was heading for "Uspenski Cathedral", I went past the market square
at where the locals come shopping near a port. Ferry boats also use it. In winter,
the place totally gets frozen so that I saw some fishermen making holes to fish.

● Uspenski Cathedral
Onion looking golds on top of the cathedral are called
"Tamanegi Bouzu (Onion boy)." It's an image of Jesus and 12 apostles
and it's the biggest Russian Othodox Church in Scandinavia.
Inside, I saw many religious arts done with tempera on the wall.
Jesus and 12 apostles are also there.

● Helsinki Cathedral
So beautiful and big!!!!!

● Helsinki Senate Square
On top of stairs, I could look over Helsinki and
"Helsinki Senate Square," the square for the locals well,
to heal or relax and meditate right infront. The bronze statue standing
at the center of the square is called "Alexander U."

I went shopping at a gift shop which some Japanese runs it along the square.
The owner told me their moomin goods there are much cheaper than "Tampere,"
my next distination so I stocked up with them. Inside, it's ALL MOOMIN!!!!
Clothes, Bags, Dolls, and Chocolate...... it went CRAZY with moomin!!

After the sightseeing, I had lunch at a restaurant nearby.

Sausage and Vegetable Soup
So light but a bit too salty...

Meatballs
It's one of the local dishes
in Scandinavia.

After the lunch, I headed for "Tampere," which is famous city for Moomin.

To be continued!!
