9 hours later, I got to Helsinki and headed for the hotel.
Unfortunately, it was totally cloudy...
|
After taking a rest at the hotel, I took extra steps to "Kamome Restaurant,"
which is famous for one of Japanese movies. Helsinki city center is so
busy
|
with lots of streetcars and department stores. And the structures of the buildings
are retro looking, so it gives the city an European feel. It was LOVE at
the 1st sight!!!!
|
First, what I was so surprised was that 99% of the Finnish is very good at
not only their mother language but also English. On the way to the restaurant
being lost,
|
I asked for the directions many times, and also I asked store clarks some questions
about their items... I talked with about 20 Finnish in English in the 1st day.
|
Then everybody replied in English very fluently everywhere. They spoke
too quickly
to me so I couldn't get them all, and I asked them to tell me what they
had said
|
over and over again, even though I was the one that asked
the questions in English first......I was fairly beaten from the get-go...... |
After struggling finding the restaurant, I got there eventually. Hooray!!
BUT!!!! It was already closed at five thirty on that particular day......
|
There were many Japanese looking tourists around me and they couldn't also
hide
the huge disappointment like me. I just took a picture for my memory.
|
WHY ME............. AGAIN...........
So I had to have dinner at McDonald's with the tears in my eyes,
|
and went back to the hotel taking a walk around the shopping area.
I was so exhausted from the long flight from Japan and being lost
|
in the city where I'd never visited.......... Good Night..........zzz |
