After we got to the camp, I took a rest a bit in the tent
and had dinner at about 5 o'clock. It was African pancakes, carrot soup,
|
and pasta with mushroom sauce. We needed full stamina for the summit. xD
After dinner, we got back to our tents and had a nap until the night came.
|
But... I couldn't sleep at all because other team porters were
very very noisy singing and talking a lot. And Franziska felt the same... |
---------- Starting to climb at midnight! ---------
|
|
At about 11 o'clock, we started to get ready to tackle the summit!
While we were climbing it was very very cold. And the climate there was
very very different from
|
what it had been until this point. The guides said it sometimes goes down
to almost -10〜-15℃.
So I dressed up in a fleece, skiwear, and doubled gloves with hand warmers
inside
|
and placed the insole in the climbimg boots to keep the feet warm to attack
it.
Right before we left the camp, we had warm ginger tea and snacks and started
|
to climb at midnight to see the sunlight and make sure we can come down
to the camp. When we started, we saw some groups climbing right infront of us and right at tha back of us.
|
Above 5000m high, we cold see the foot of mountain, "Moshi," and stars beautifully.
|
Sometimes, we stopped and took a rest.
Then I had some chocolates to get my stamina up and to warm myself up.
|
Some Japanese mountain guide said in his blog;
When the climbers attack the summit, thier inner bodies get much weaker
|
with altitude sickness, so we couldn't eat something solid near the summit
and
we should prepare the liguid food, for example, energy jelly, hot English
tea with glucos!!
|
So, I did. But!! My appetite wasn't get satisfied with the jelly I'd got ready
so I was happy with my chocolate I brought. What A Magic Appetite!! lol |
To be continued!! |
