⑥ Stubborn Old Lady

I went back to the trail from the zoo, and headed for Äkäslompolo lake.

● Point ①
When I was heading back to the lodge cross-country skiing on the lake
(along the red line on the map), An old lady came towards me.

She asked me, "How can I get to the supermarket??."
So I guessed what she was asking for must've been "K-Market," which I always go to.
K-Market is located at the yellow circle on the map, so she might've been skiing
on the wrong trail in oppisite direction. "I was gonnna take you there. Let's go together!!"

She was the old lady travelling solo so I asked, "Are you travelling alone??"
Then she replied,"I came here from the UK alone." And she told me that

she'd got there 1week before I got there, and she was gonna go back the next day.

When I told her that I go there for Aurora/Northern Ligts, which I love,
she replied, "Same here!! I saw nice ones just 4 or 5 days ago!!"
Then we got to the point ② as we skied and talked.

● Point ②
I told her, "That's the supermarket which you wanna go to!!,"
pointing at the yellow circle on the map. and I continued,
"But!! There isn't a direct trail to that point, so you have to get to
the point ③ and take the trail in pink on the map."

Then!! You aren't gonna believe this!!
She said, "It's a pain in the arse to go around the lake
to go there, so I'm gonna cut through the lake
(
on the doted red line to the the yellow circle on the map)."

So I said,"You've gotta be kidding me!! It's not even a trail,
just a fresh snow!! Are you gonna be OK?? It' must be a hard trail for you

unless you are an expart." When I saw her skiing, I colund tell from the way
she skied. Clearly she wasn't the expert So she worried me.

After all, she ignored me and headed for the shore, saying, "Thank you!! See you!!"

I was still worried about her after we went our ways, so I stopped
and looked back for her over and over. As I expected, she fell down
on the fresh snow again and again, and stared at me being embarrassed every time.

It would be quicker and easier for her to take maintained trails
rather than cutting through the lake, but why didn't she!!
I watched over her reaching to the shore, thinking so......

What a stubborn old lady........!!!!!

To be continued!!
