⑤ My 1st Cross-Country Skiing Experience

He is a student who lives in "Sodankylä," one of the towns of Northern Finland
and told me he was in Ylläs for his part-time work during his spring break.
He was born and raised in northern country so talked to me about many winter activities a lot.
And he looked so happy when I talked to him about my 1st visit to Finland and my love for Finland.

---------- Starting My Private Lesson ----------

Step 1 : Practice to put the gears on:SUPER EASY!!

Step 2 : Practice walking:A PIECE OF CAKE!!

He said,"99% of the beginners usually fall but you're very good at keeping your balance."
I was on cloud nine hearing that!!

Step 3 : Practice skiing

But!! I hit the major obstucle...... He told me how to shift the balance
and how and when to use the poles so I tried to copy him but couldn't.

I did my best and got better and better about 30 minutes in. He saw me doing it and said,"You
completely got the technique that even locals take 5-10 years to master. You're extraordinary."
I thought
"He is just too nice !!" I knew he flatters the guests but felt so happy.

90 minutes went past very quickly and I completed the lesson. I enjoyed not only skiing but
talking with him but at the same time I was tired from my 1st cross- country skiing experience.

Even now I can't forget about him taking the picture laughing out loud.
We shook hands again and parted.

When I headed for the bus stop for the village center, the cloud miraculously
broke a little and there were some beautiful crimson cloud over the sunset.

When I was waiting for the bus, a man came up to me and asked me to take some pictures of him.
After I did, with his nice smile, he offered me to take a picture of me so I took it.
This was taken by my cellphone camera so didn't come out so well. I should've brought my SLR...
