12: Bus Tour in the Park (3 of 4)

We kept going deeper and deeper after Toklat River and Stony Hill.

F Eielson Visitor Center
The final bus station for the most of buses
This building was made out of the hollowed out rock.

To my disappointment, the heavy-looking sky was totally hiding Mt Mckinley,
but we could see Mt. Hunter (4427m above sea level), which is taller than
Mt.Fuji (3776m the highest in Japan) next to it. It left a strong impression on me!!

The most of buses went back to the 1st station, but we just kept going!!

On the way, we saw families of caribou often nearby. I guessed they were one of them.

Suddenly, the sky got clear up, and the fall colors got brighter.
Cloud!! Rain!! Sun!!..... and Cloud!! Rain!! Sun!!.....
I was so surprised with quickly changing weather of Denali National Park.

G Kantishna
We got to "Kantishna;" the final bus stop. I learned this place had been a gold mine town
in the old days, some people still even now go for gold dast there sometimes. On top of that,
this is the closest point to Mt. Mckinley, so we can see excellent scenery there
on the sunny days. The lodge is so popular that it's been already fully booked
for the next season even more than a year in advance, and so expensive.

We had lunch there. It was simple veggie meal but I enjoyed it a lot. Even though
the bean and veggie soup was really good but yakisoba in the lunch box was awfuly salty...

After lunch, I went for a walk around the lodge. Not only red and orange fall colors
but also yellow is so beautiful. I wanna stay here for 2 or 3 nights relaxing one day.

A pretty wooden tellephone-box was on the premise and had a phone book in it.

To be continued!!
