6:The Roughest Sea in the World
"Devil Drake Passage" But... Where??

After we left Ushuaia, the next day, we headed for south across Drake Passage
to the Antarctica. It's between South American Continent and the Antarctica.
The narrowest width is about 650 km long so that
it's in the Guinness Book of World Record for the widest passage in the world.

Also, it's famous for the roughest sea in the world
because of its location; the stormy area all year round.
So the sailors all over the world call it "The Devil Drake Passage,"
or "The Grave of Ships," and are very feared for it.

The tour conductor said that 99% of the travellers got sea sick
and had to lay in the bed. Look at the picture below!!
You can see some bags for vomitting in the hallway.
It means that anybody can vomit anywhere on the ship...

But, actually it wasn't rough at all. I just saw three or four meters high waves.
The Japan sea in the mid winter is much rougher than this....

The tour conductor said, "We are very lucky."
He felt very strange to see very calm Drake Passage.
I'm gonna tell you later about the Drake Passage on the way back
to the South American Cntinent. It was also very quiet and
the sky was very clear without any strong winds.
Where did the Devil Drake Passage go??

We were luck or unlucky... I wanted to experience the roughest sea in the world
even if I would have been gotten sea sick. The Drake Passaage
was one of the attractions that I could have experienced. Disappointing...

After the breakfast, we had a free time so I headed for the bridge.
There were a few sailors but we could go in and out of the bridge freely.

After the lunch, I was at the deck to see the sea.
Then lots of sea birds got closed to us so I also enjoyed bird watching.

★ Wandering Albatross
They are the biggest sea birds in the world so their wings reach three meters max.
On top of that, they can fly straight for 3000-15000 km for food. Amazing!!

★ Southern Giant Petrel
They are much smaller than the wandering albatrosses but are violent.

After I enjoed the time on the deck, I went back to my cabin
and fell asleep and missed the dinner as I was very very tired.

At that night, since the tour conductor wondered if I was laying on the bed
being sea sick, he came into my cabin and called me, "Hey, You!
Are you ok? If you are feeling ill, I'm gonna bring the dinner for you." So I woke up.

Double Ks let me keep sleeping and they went to the dining room for dinner.
The dinner time started at 7 o'clock. When I saw my phone, it was already 7:50!! Oh!!
I dashed to the dining room. At that time, most of the food was gone... Oops!!

After the dinner, I went back to sleep again deeply. Good Night!!
