We couldn't stay at the summit for a long time so we started to go down
after we took
some pictures. From the summit to "Mweka Camp (3100m),"we took
a light blue line.
|
When I climbed up to the summit, I couldn't take a picture of "Stella
Point (5756m),"
because of the pitch black. The guides said, "Stella Point isn't the
real goal.
|
But among local climbers, reaching the stella Point is counted as a goal."
It's a great rule for some climbers who can't make it to Uhuru Peak!!
|
Actually, some climbers returned to Barafu Camp from there. But!!! Since I came there all the way, I wanted to complete the treck and
|
I didn't like to be treated like the one who just got to Stella Point,
not Uhuru Peak.
During the night, I couldn't see any sceneries around us. But Now!!
|
I could see very open view and remembered the down hill of Mt.Fuji,
which I climbed 4 years ago. I couldn't believe that we had climbed up
|
from Barafu Camp to the summit in 6 and half hours during the cold black
night.
On the way, I wanted to take lots of pictures and to enjoy picture-perfect
sceneries.
|
The guides hurried us to go down to Barafu Camp in 2 and half hours.
Wished I could stay there longer!! I spent so many hours to get there !!
|
---------- Got back to Barafu Camp --------- |
When I made it to Barafu Camp, the porters and cooks welcomed me with thier smiles
and congratulated me. And Harold gave me an hour to take a nup until lunch.
|
Potato stew made me forget ma tiredness from the hard time last night.
And, like yesterday and 2 days ago, Franziska asked me, "Would you like to have mine too??"
|
Actually, I was waiting for her to aske me. So I polished the lunch for 2. xD
When we got there yestaeday, we got the snowstorm
|
so I took a picture of Barafu Camp the day before I left there.
Hmm... If the sky had been very clear yesterday as well, I could have taken
lots of pictures there.
|
The wind blew as strong as some tents could have been blown away for 2days.
|
---------- C5: Mweka Camp (3100m) ---------
|
After we left Barafu Camp, we kept going down, down, and down.
Like the scenery from the Uhuru Peak, we could see an open view
|
but I started to get bored as it's always the same.
|
I sometimes saw some rescue carts along the trails for climbers who felt
sick.
|
The long African alpine desert area finally finished and we started to
get into a forest area.
Since it might have rained around here, the downhill of this area was
very slippery
|
and I almost fell down often. So Tammy sometimes stopped and made sure
I was OK again and again. How kind of him!!
|
3 hours later we left Barafu Camp, we got to Mweka Camp; the final camp
of this trip.
At that time, my knees and my lower back were screaming because of the
overwork
|
from the lomg uphill for 4days and the downhill hell of 2800m. But on the other hand,
my heart was taking a rest during the downhill. I looked so tired in the picture ↓↓ |
|
Today's dinner ; Rice Special!! Coriander fried rice was very very delicious!!
So Franziska liked it too as unusual. And I and Franziska battled for it
!! Lol
|
The next day, we could have 3 hours treck left to the Mweka Gate (1640m) ;
the final mountain gate, but actually Mweka Camp was like a real goal for
us.
|
The relief from reaching the summit and sleepless nights made me sleep so deeply. Zzzz..... |
