It was the last day of my trip. I didn't have any plans so I strolled around
Ylläs
relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere of the area, and going shopping as
well.
|
Ylläs doesn't have anything special but quiet nature; however,
it's the best for a person, who lives in a big city, like me.
|
● Äkäslompolo Lake
I could see the Mt.Ylläs for skiing far from there. Very open!! At night,
it was really dark,
|
and I could see around 360 degrees of night sky for the Northern Lights.
And during the day, cross-country skiing and skating spree!! Perfect!!
|
The taiga, near the road, was covered with the snow beautifully looking
as if
it was sugar icing. There were some snow fields with much less trees.
|
I could see a family of trees; a big one, a medium sized one,
and small baby ones... Pretty!! This is THE landscape of Lapland.!!
|
● The 1st Gift Shop
There were lots kinds of local gifts so that many customers
|
for Northern Lights or skiing were there. I got a pretty wooden mug cup,
like the one I used at the reindeer farm a day ago.
|
Outside, there were pretty wooden dolls of Sami, local people.
|
● The 2nd Gift Shop
It was smaller than the 1st one, which is maybe because
there were much less varieties of gifts there.
|
Also there were much fewer customers.
But I got a T-shirt with my favourite print on it.
|
● K-Market
It's one of the biggest local supermarkets in Finland. I saw them not only Ylläs
|
but in Helsinki and on the way to Ylläs. The store was very interesting
to me, Japanese.
Unlike in Japan, It had just one entrance that opens automatically strangely
|
when a person get closed to it. In Japan, doors usually slide sideways
but here it opened,
like doors with nobs. And there was also just one exit by the cashier.
|
Cashiers were conveyer belt style unlike in Japan. Not only K-Market but others were the same
with conveyer belt with only one entrance and exit. It looks like Costco in Japan.
