4: Harbor Town of the South "Seward"

The map shows the track from Anchorage to Seward below. The train slowly took us
to Seward as a train conductor was making announcements and explaining each point.

œ 100.6@"POTTER"
This is the famous place for recreations and refreshments for locals. More than
100 kinds of waterfowl share the place and some migratory birds also arrive in May.

œ 88.7@"INDIAN"
On the sunny days, the beautiful spot for "Turnagain Arm," one of the places
in the world, you can see the wide gap between the high tides and low.
During salmon season, we can see some whales there sometimes.

œ 74.5@"GIRDWOOD"
This was once a small town famous for coal mine. There is
"Alyeska Snow Park," the biggest and most famous snow park
in Alaska in the recess of the mountains in the picture.

œ 55.5@"SPENCER@GLACIER"

œ 51.0@"TUNNEL"
As it's named, 5 tunnels are along the valley here after Spencer Glacier.
We could see thrilling views from the observation car.

œ 48.2@"BARTLETT GLACIER," "DEADMAN GLACIER"

œ 47.8@"PLACER@RIVER@BRIDGE"
The trains swirl around 3 or 4 times this area because of the steep hill
so I could see some open scenery but had a giddy feeling at the same time.

œ 44.3@"TRAIL GLACIER"

œ 33.3@"TRAIL CREEK"
I heard there are some beaver lairs and dams.

œ 18.0@"KENAI@LAKE"
The color of some lakes in this area is dull green/blue
because of the firm sand carried from some glaciers.

Seward is a few minutes away!! To be continued!!
