24: The Amusement Park in Alaska
"Pioneer Park (Alaskaland)"

After the cruise, I headed for "Pike's Waterfront Hotel."
The staffs there were all so kind, so I could have breakfast there relaxing,
ask the receptionists to check my baggage during the cruise tour and arrange a taxi for me,
even though I didn't stay there this time. On top of that, It was decolated with a pretty moose stuff
and some beautiful flowers so I really had a great impression. I wanna stay there next time!!

 ------- "Pioneer Park (Alaskaland)"-------

I headed for "Pioneer Park (Alaskaland) " by a taxi. This is an amusement park
like place with some kind of attractions, restaurants, and gift shops.

This is one of the places that locals use to take break and lots of tourists visit.

But!! When I looked at it from outside, it was so quiet...
So I asked the taxi driver about it and she replied, "It closed last week for the season."
YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?!?!?
When I'd checked it in Japan, the website had said,
"It would open until the middle of September." Hmmm.....

Firstly I stoped at the information center and got a map of the park.

In the park, there are some exhibits telling the Alaskan history to the visitors.

A museum in the park

The president took a ride on it
when the Alaska Railroad
was completed in 1923.

The Paddle Wheeler "Nenana"
It's the 2nd biggest wooden
paddle wheeler built in 1933,
and worked so well transporting
passengers and cargo
in the Alaskan gold rash era.

I walked into a small gift shop.
I was a little hungry so got some pieces of cokie, and walked around there having them.
In Alaska, every gift shop you go, you see the trophy of Alaskan simbols; grizzly bear and reindeer.

On the 2nd floor, it was decorated with Santa Claus and some Christmas goods.
Sooooooo Northern Country!!
But...... a bit too early!!!!

Next, I haeded for Alaskan history museum, which is located at the far back of the park.
It displays the miniture models that show the lives of gold mine,
many kinds of tools used to find gold, and Alaskan traditional arts from the time
when Eurasia and American continents had separated. It was so interesting that I couldn't leave easily.

After the museum, I relaxed under the clear sky. NICE!!!
On season , they offer the visitors "Salmon Bake," barbecued salmon and vegetables in the open.
Actually I came here for this as well. What a great disappointment!!

To be continued!!
